2024 Fall Season Recap

Fall is for team building
With each year our team grows stronger, bigger, and faster. With over 70 members on the team and a few weeks of rowing on the water, URI Crew had a fantastic head racing season with strong showings across the Men's and Women's sides.

URI first competed at the Head of the Snake Regatta with a impressive performance by the Women's Varsity 4, securing a strong 5th-place finish overall. Both the Men’s and Women’s teams competed with two Varsity 8s each, enjoying some fun competition with each other and the other schools there.

Only 2 weeks later, URI went to the Head of the Charles Regatta for the second year in a row sending a Women's Varsity 4, Women's Varsity 8, and Mens Varsity 8. While battling The Charles challenging course (known as a Coxswains race) and tough competition all boats raced well. The Women's Varsity 8 made our programs history by being the first Women's 8 to officially qualify, rather than receiving a bid, for The Charles. We will see you back on the course next fall.

URI Crew ended the season with a bang at the Head of the Fish Regatta where most boats got a top 10 finish. This was the first race for this years Novice class and it was a hard one with rough gusts of wind and delayed starts. This did not discourage our Mens Novice 8 who ended up going home with hardware from a 3rd place finish.

Thank you to everyone who helped to make the season possible. Without the outstanding support of parents and alumni, we would not have had the food or means to sustain a roster of 70 rowers. We are looking forward to a long season in the erg room getting ready for our most exciting spring yet.
